Build Specification Tiny House Scotland

Sorry but the build specification at Tiny House Scotland is a thing of great secrecy .... you will certainly be able to find out about my Build Specification in detail (if that's your thing!) when you become a customer, but not before then!

"Why NOT?" I hear you ask. Well one reason I don't publish it any more is because it has never been an issue with the customers who actually visit and see the quality of build at Tiny House Scotland. The second reason is that it prevents other less scrupulous builders who just plagiarised it regardless of the inferior materials they actually use!

I mean you wouldn't expect chef Michel Roux Jnr (my doppelgänger according to my sons!!) to tell you his secret recipes would you? Sacré bleu! -sorry Michel!

My mission statement is to build the finest and most original tiny houses!

My approach and building methods can be summarised as follows:

  • all framing timber and sheathing is structurally rated
  • everything is built beyond most residential standards and bears no comparison with sheds, glamping pods, shepherd's huts etc....
  • I do not use OSB sheathing - sure it's as cheap as chips but it relies mainly on nasty glue for substance and reduces to mush if moisture gets in.
  • I do not use MDF or chipboard or cheap far eastern tropical plywood
  • I do not use nails or nail guns! only screws - many types of specialist screws - this is quite a big deal in my opinion!
  • all wood based materials are FSC certified from sustainable farmed sources
  • no corners are cut...other than those that actually needed to be rounded!!
  • everything is hand built by myself to furniture making tolerances!
  • there is an overall sustainability goal in terms of use of materials for the longest lifespan possible
  • I always go the extra mile with blood sweat and tears to bring that "no detail too small" approach to the finished architecture - it's a work of art - not a consumer product.
