Tiny House Scotland Payment Terms & Conditions

Payment terms for all NestPod and NestHouse design and build work:

The schedule and deposit amounts of the agreed project budget are determined by:

  1. TIMING ie. when your project is going into production - either soon or at a future date and
  2. MATERIALS which require pre-ordering to meet the start date - eg. a trailer or timber which needs time to season
NB. Build slots and commissions will only be formally accepted once the relevant deposit has been paid!

Payments Schedule:

  1. Build slot booking deposit to secure a slot in the build queue.
  2. Up to 5 weeks prior to your build starting - a deposit of around 5-10% depending on any long lead time materials that must be ordered in advance - eg. trailer or timber or other bulk order materials that need to be in place for the start of building .
  3. At build commencement a payment of around 55-60% less any previous deposits or consultancy fee already paid.
  4. Around half way through the build typically around 3 months, a further payment of 25%.
  5. Two weeks before build completion, the final balance due will be requested which should be paid and cleared prior to handover ex-works. If I am handling shipping or delivery on your behalf this must be fully paid before despatch as a separate item. ©Tiny House Scotland

BUILD QUEUE

I operate a Build Queue system because I work on my own and only build two or three projects a year - so there has to be a 'first-come first-served' basis to ensure fairness and assist organisation of time and materials. Please note that start dates are exactly that - materials are scheduled and the design and build process will begin relentlessly at that date - you must be in a position to give me a final design brief at that starting point.

Projects involving land and money and people are often fraught with changes of plan and if it turns out that you can’t fill the slot you have booked, then I will offer it to the next customer in the queue if they are in a position to accept their build earlier; in the meantime, your slot will be swapped to their later position and the process begins again.

CANCELLATION at any point:

If the project is cancelled for whatever reason by either party during the design or build phase then I reserve the right to invoice design and build time as well as materials used up to that point in time and retain deposited funds to cover this; any balance will of course be returned.

DELIVERY

All budgets are quoted or estimated as Ex-Works unless specified - this means - the finished article sitting at the workshop gate, NOT delivered to your site.

This allows for subsequent alternatives such as: customer collection; or shipping with a commercial third party or delivery by Tiny House Scotland to your required address. The latter two scenarios require careful consideration and costing of transport methods, distance from Tiny House Scotland, site access as well as any required connection/installation on site.

Remember that you may also need to budget for:

Site purchase unless you already own the land.
Site preparation or services installation by others.
Possible planning consultancy, planning and building warrant services.
Renewable technology systems - solar panels, battery systems etc.
